Interviewer: How does it feel? Lots of women do not generally become software developers, and we hardly see women entering the technical field. How was your journey to becoming a software developer? What inspired you to work as a developer at Tandemloop Technologies?
Afra: Well, to answer your question, it feels great and adventurous with each passing day. I'd like to share a story from my childhood. When I was in 10th grade, a female teacher said to me, “Girls are not good enough at technical skills." I felt very disappointed. However, I took it as a challenge, and instead of letting it bring me down, I studied hard to prove those perceptions wrong. Despite financial limitations, I independently learned computer coding skills and worked tirelessly to pave my way into the field. Eventually, I landed a job at Tandemloop Technologies, which inspired me with its inclusive and supportive culture that actively promotes gender diversity. This environment motivated me to fully embrace my passion for coding and provided the platform for me to thrive as a developer. So, in my view, people will always demotivate you. It is on you how you pursue it.

Afra: Yes, my father served as a mentor and role model for me. Despite societal pressures and negative comments, he firmly believed in my potential and encouraged me to pursue my studies and career. I am grateful for his unwavering support, which has shaped my journey as a developer.

Afra: My favourite tool is VS Code. It's a great IDE with a lot of features that make my coding experience easier. I also like that it's open source, so I can customize it to my liking.

Afra: I gained a lot of essential skills at Tandemloop Technologies, such as MongoDB, Angular, Node.js, and analytical skills. But the most important skill I developed was effective teamwork.
